From hot flashes to birth control, many women’s health topics have long been considered taboo or difficult to talk about. “What Your Mama Never Told You,” a free virtual event presented by the McKenzie Health System Foundation Community Relations Committee, will share information on a variety of women’s health topics, including pregnancy and postpartum depression, signs of menopause, maintaining health and libido through the ages and much more on November 12 at 7 p.m.
Ladies in our community can register at www.McKenzieHealth.org/Ladies or by calling 810-648-6127. There is no charge, but registration is required to access the event. As an added bonus this year, prize drawings will take place throughout the event.
This year’s panel features Nurse Practitioner Suzette Walker of McKenzie Health and Wellness Center in Sandusky, Nurse Practitioner Brandy Trepkowski of McKenzie Rural Health Clinic in Sandusky and Nicole Beagle of Sanilac County Community Mental Health. The trio will discuss common women’s health issues in a judgement-free setting, with plenty of humor throughout. Questions can be submitted anonymously and Emcees Lorie and Erin Freiburger will share the questions for the panel to answer. Prize drawings will take place throughout the event.
“This event is always really educational and really entertaining! Whether your mama told you a lot or a little about women’s bodies and the various stages of life, you will find this event both enlightening and enjoyable. No question and no topic is off limits and our panel will answer questions with honesty and compassion,” said Therese Stone, chair of the women’s event subcommittee. “Even though this year’s event will be virtual, we are grateful we can come together to learn a little more about what ‘your mama never told you.’”
