McKenzie Health System Hosting Free “A Matter of Balance” Classes in Brown City
Many older adults experience concerns about falling, which can lead to limiting daily activities and reducing overall quality of life. To help address this concern, McKenzie Health System is offering “A Matter of Balance”, an evidence-based, award-winning program designed to help seniors manage falls and increase activity levels. The free, 8-session course will take place on Thursdays from March 27 through May 15, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Brown City Missionary Church (8935 Burnside Road, Brown City, MI 48416).
The program provides practical strategies to help seniors reduce fall risks, improve balance and strength, and gain confidence in maintaining an active lifestyle. Participants will learn to:
- View falls as controllable
- Set goals to increase physical activity
- Make changes to reduce fall risks at home
- Exercise to improve strength and balance
This program is ideal for:
- Anyone concerned about falls
- Those interested in improving balance, flexibility, and strength
- Individuals who have fallen in the past
- Anyone who has restricted their activities due to fear of falling
“A Matter of Balance” is free for seniors aged 60 and up, thanks to funding from the Region VII Area Agency on Aging.
