McKenzie Health System is pleased to announce that Wing Lee (Winnie) Cheung, a medical student from Central Michigan University (CMU), will join Dr. James Sams at McKenzie Health and Wellness Center this October as part of her medical education. Originally from Hong Kong, Cheung holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
In addition to her academic achievements, Cheung enjoys running, playing the piano, and walking her dog. Her time at McKenzie Family Healthcare will involve working closely with medical providers, delivering care to patients throughout the Sandusky area.
Steve Barnett, President and CEO of McKenzie Health System, expressed enthusiasm about Cheung’s arrival, highlighting the hospital’s dedication to supporting the education of future healthcare professionals while addressing the healthcare needs of rural Michigan communities.
Cheung’s involvement is part of CMU’s Comprehensive Community Clerkship program, which provides a 20-week immersive medical education experience in underserved rural and urban areas across Michigan. The program exposes students to a wide range of specialties, including primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, emergency medicine, and more.
