McKenzie Health System is proud to announce the addition of MRI services to their Diagnostic Imaging Department, making them the only facility in the county to offer this testing. The new MRI services will enhance their commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality medical care to the community.
Patients seeking MRI services can request to have their order sent to McKenzie Health System. Once scheduled, on the appointment day they will conveniently enter through the Outpatient Services area, ensuring easy access and a streamlined experience. With short scheduling and wait times, the team is committed to providing prompt and efficient care, reducing the stress and uncertainty often associated with medical tests.
The new MRI services are delivered in a comfortable and compassionate environment by the experienced and dedicated staff. The addition of MRI technology enables patients to receive detailed imaging that supports accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning, all while staying close to home.
A full range of MRI services, with the exception of cardiac MRIs, will be available every Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Testing options both with and without contrast will be offered based on what the provider has ordered.
“Patients can expect a seamless visit when having their MRI testing done using the new mobile unit at McKenzie,” said Billi Jo Hennika, Chief Operating Officer at McKenzie. “When evaluating the quality of MRI units, it was found that mobile units provide the same quality, or sometimes even better, than fixed units. We will continue to evaluate this new service in the days ahead and base a future decision on a possible fixed unit based on what will best serve the needs of the community.”
"We are thrilled to bring MRI services to McKenzie Health System Hospital Campus," said Jay Smith, Director of Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiopulmonary. "This new service underscores our commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of our community. Patients have made it clear they hoped to have this testing available locally. It has been a long process, but definitely worth the time and work, now knowing patients no longer need to travel for this imaging service, as we can now meet their needs right here in our county."
This latest equipment adds to the already expansive list of quality equipment available in the McKenzie Diagnostic Imaging Department, including echocardiography/vascular ultrasound, radiography/x-ray, computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, 3D mammography, nuclear medicine, bone density, computed tomography angiography (CTA), and fluoroscopy.
"We are incredibly proud to bring MRI services to the community, and this achievement truly reflects the dedication and collaboration of our entire team. I would like to give a special shout-out to all the departments involved in making this possible. It has definitely taken a team approach, and I am especially grateful for Jay's leadership in guiding us through this process," added Hennika.
