McKenzie Health System Announces Tonya Kaufman as New Board Member

Long-time resident Tonya Kaufman is the newest member of the McKenzie Health System Board of Directors, joining Larry Mitchell, Mike Dreyer, Brandon Guibord, Dr. James Sams, and Steve Barnett, President/CEO.

Born and raised in Sandusky, Tonya Kaufman has a special connection to the community and chose to return home following her education to start her family. She is an alumnus of the University of Detroit Mercy, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. She holds PMP (Project Management Professional) and Lean System Green Belt certifications, signifying she is a specialist in executing Lean projects, often related to lead time reduction.

Tonya's professional journey began in architecture, with seven years of experience as a project manager and designer. Subsequently, she transitioned to the automotive industry, contributing her skills for eleven years as a product designer, launch manager, and engineering process manager. Tonya is currently a program manager in the healthcare industry, driven by her passion for continuous learning and growth.

Tonya has previously served on the Moore Township Planning Commission board and is looking forward to her role as a McKenzie Health System board member. "I am excited to actively give back to my community and be able to use my past experiences and continued willingness to learn, collaborate, and gain insight into the healthcare industry," says Kaufman. "Becoming a member of the McKenzie Health System board offers me an opportunity to have a meaningful impact on local healthcare visions that align with my personal and professional values."

Like Tonya, her two high school-aged children actively participate in school and community activities. Along with her husband, they juggle busy schedules and enjoy spending time and making memories on the water when they can.
