Physical Therapist Khristine Kirkbride joins McKenzie Rehabilitation

Khristine Kirkbride, PT, DPT, OMPT

Khristine Kirkbride, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist (OMPT), will begin her role at McKenzie Rehabilitation on December 9, 2024. A 2011 graduate of Sandusky High School, Khristine earned her bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University before completing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Oakland University. She further specialized with a two-year post-doctoral certification in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy, with additional expertise in treating complex musculoskeletal conditions, including jaw pain and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. Her hands-on techniques help patients improve range of motion, strength, and functionality, enhancing recovery and pain management.

Khristine’s passion for physical therapy was sparked during a high school shadowing project. Initially considering a career in nutrition, she pivoted to physical therapy, fascinated by human movement and the opportunity to make a positive impact. She is dedicated to helping patients achieve their unique health and movement goals with individualized care.

“Sometimes the unexpected changes lead to the best surprises,” shared Khristine. “I originally planned to shadow a dietitian for a high school project, but a last-minute cancellation brought me to McKenzie Rehabilitation, where I shadowed Jenny Long. That experience shifted my entire career path, sparking a passion for physical therapy that I hadn’t anticipated. It’s incredible to think that the very place where my journey began has brought me back home, now as part of the McKenzie team, ready to give back to the community that started it all.”

Prior to joining McKenzie, Khristine gained experience at a prominent Lansing company, starting as a staff therapist and quickly moving into a supervisor role. She has also stayed connected with the academic community, assisting in labs at Oakland University to guide future physical therapists.

“Khristine brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on expertise to our team,” said Jenny Long, PT, DPT, Director of Rehabilitation Services and Physical Therapist at McKenzie. “Her commitment to patient-centered care and her specialized training in conditions like TMJ dysfunction will be a tremendous asset to McKenzie and the community we serve.”

Outside of work, Khristine is a sports enthusiast, runner, and outdoor lover. She enjoys hunting, attending sports events, and spending time with family. She and her fiancé, a local from the Capac area, will be getting married in May. Khristine is excited to return to her hometown community and contribute to the health and wellness of patients needing rehabilitation care.
