McKenzie Health System is happy to announce trained Navigators are ready to help you find a health insurance plan that meets your needs AND you can afford! Open enrollment for Health Insurance Marketplace (healthcare.gov) is November 1st – January 15th. Getting health insurance means access to the care you need without the large medical bills. Low-cost, even free health plans are available for you and your family. Plans cover doctor visits, hospitalizations, maternity care, mental health services, prescriptions, and more! The time to start planning is now.

Here are few easy steps you can take now:

  • Check out the Health Insurance Marketplace by visiting www.healthcare.gov today!
  • Gather all your information before you start
  • Know your budget
  • Make a list of the healthcare services you need

People looking for health insurance for the first time, often need help. Navigators are here to explain insurance benefits and confusing terms like “deductibles” or “out of pocket expenses”.

Navigators can help review plans and prices. Applying is free and it may save you money! Funding for Navigator services was made possible by The Thumb Community Health Partnership. TCHP Navigators across the Thumb region are ready to assist you and can explain the difference between different health insurance options including Medicaid, Medicare, and plans available on HealthCare.gov. Having health insurance helps make sure you have access to the health care you need to stay healthy.

Funding for Navigator services was made possible by The Thumb Community Health Partnership (TCHP). The TCHP is composed of the hospitals, health departments, community mental health agencies, and a variety of area private-not-for-profit organizations. The Partnership’s goal is to work cooperatively together to meet the health needs, both physical and mental, of the residents of Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, and Tuscola Counties. A recent grant award will fund seven navigators throughout the region. For more information on the Partnership, visit www.thumbhealth.org or call Kari Granz, the TCHP Program Coordinator, at 810-895-2918.
