McKenzie Health System Awards McKenzie Medical Staff Merit Scholarship to 3 Local Students

Supporting the next generation of medical professionals, McKenzie Health System recently awarded three McKenzie Medical Staff Merit Scholarships to local students interested in pursuing healthcare professions.

Emma Beaver of Deckerville High School was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to use at Michigan State University where she will major in Human Biology; Mickaela Warczinsky of Deckerville High School received a $500 scholarship and will attend Saginaw Valley State University for pre-pharmacy as she works toward her doctorate in pharmaceutical science; and Josie Schuitman of Marlette High School was awarded a $500 scholarship, which she will use at University of Michigan to pursue a career as a doctor.

The McKenzie Medical Staff Merit Scholarships are awarded annually to Sanilac County graduating high school seniors entering an accredited college or university and planning to become healthcare professionals. Selection criteria are based on academic achievement, community service, and accomplishments.

“We are delighted to support Emma, Mickaela, and Josie in achieving their education and career dreams,” said Brandy Trepkowski, MSN, FNP-BC, Nurse Practitioner at McKenzie Rural Health Clinic and member of the McKenzie Medical Staff Scholarship Committee.

“As a provider, it is extremely rewarding to be able to assist the next generation of medical professionals. We are so proud of these 3 young people and are thrilled to see them pursuing a career in healthcare,” added Kristie Harms, MSN, FNP-C, Nurse Practitioner at McKenzie After-Hours Clinic, and member of the McKenzie Medical Staff Scholarship Committee.
