Robotics Team Creates and Donates 50 Face Shields to McKenzie Health System
McKenzie Health System (MHS) recently received 50 new face shields as a result of a very active robotics team that is choosing to use their time away from school to help others. The Enigma Robotics 2075 students recently developed and donated the face shields to MHS. Several students on the local robotics team including Braedyn Brewer, Sam Dressel, and Eli Stephenson, as well as the adults who mentor them, joined a recent Zoom call with MHS President and CEO Steve Barnett.
During the call, Barnett discussed the importance of personal protective equipment such as face shields while the team gave a demonstration of the 3D printer and other technology used in the process.
“There are a lot of unknowns right now, but what we do know is that personal protective equipment is incredibly important to the nurses and physicians who are treating patients,” Barnett said. “I can’t begin to explain how grateful we are.”
“We are happy to help and we really want to support the people who are going to work every day and doing the work that needs to be done,” said Matt Dressel, mentor of the group, who hopes to create more face shields in the near future.
McKenzie has been fortunate enough to receive many generous donations of personal protective equipment (PPE), meals and treats, gift cards, and more to support the organization and its team members during this time.
