Emergency Entrance Changes at McKenzie Health System

To make it easier and safer for anyone experiencing an emergency, McKenzie Health System is simplifying its drop-off and entrance system. As of October 1, all emergency patients arriving by personal car will go through the hospital’s main entrance, which is located under the large blue awning, at all hours. Previously, patients were using the ambulance entrance after hours when the main entrance was closed. This transition will make it easier for patients to get the care they need while reducing the distance to the Emergency Room, which is much closer to the main entrance door.
The original emergency entrance, which is located toward the hospital’s north end, will be used solely for ambulances starting in October, and the new “Ambulance” signage will reflect the change.
“We have been caring for patients and managing emergencies in our community for more than 50 years, and we feel this change will streamline the process for patients, families, and ambulance drivers alike,” said Billi Jo Hennika, Chief Operating Officer at McKenzie Health System. “Patients will recognize what entrance to use, regardless of the time of day, and the proximity to the ER will allow us to expedite care during an emergency. This simple shift should provide a win-win for everyone.”
Main entrance hours at the hospital are 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., 7 days a week. In addition, the emergency entrance is available 24/7 by utilizing an entryway buzzer located just inside the first door outside of normal hospital hours.
