New, FREE Senior Aqua-Aerobics Class at McKenzie Health System

McKenzie Health System is pleased to announce the addition of new aqua-aerobics classes made possible through funding by the Sanilac County Council on Aging. This class will provide three 8-week sessions and one 5-week session of aqua aerobics for seniors age 60 and older, beginning on May 3 and finishing on December 15, 2018. The classes will be held on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 p.m., and are limited to nine participants per session. Due to the limited enrollment, pre-registration is required by calling Nina Barnett at 810-648-6127.

“We’re excited to be able to offer these sessions for FREE due to funding by the Sanilac County Council on Aging,” shares Louise Blasius, LMSW, LPC, Director of Human Services at McKenzie Health System. “The classes will provide great low impact exercise for seniors, and will be offered in the heated pool located at the McKenzie Health and Wellness Center at 170 Argyle Street in Sandusky. “

These aqua-aerobics classes join a line-up of outstanding community education classes already available at McKenzie Health System, including “Evening Energizers”, which uses various equipment for a high intensity workout; “A Matter of Balance”, which helps seniors manage falls so they can increase their activity levels; “Bump, Set, Spike” featuring stretching and cardio training through non-competitive volleyball; “Tai Chi”, an ancient practice proven to reduce pain and improve your mental and physical well-being; and “Low Impact Exercise”, which focuses on strengthening, agility and balance.

“Aqua-aerobics is such a healthy full body workout, we hope seniors will take advantage of this new FREE opportunity to stay in shape!” finishes Blasius. “Remember to call 810-648-6127 for more information and to register.”
