Eva’s Place Donation 2018To realize better health with a little healthy competition, McKenzie Health System and Marlette Regional Hospital, as affiliates of United Healthcare Partners, recently faced off in a “Commit to be Fit” six-week weight-loss challenge. Teams of employees from both organizations worked together to achieve weight loss through healthy eating and regular exercise. In addition, there were mini-challenges to promote healthy lifestyles and support community causes such as Eva’s Place.

At the end of the six weeks, one organization was awarded as well as a winning team at each facility for the highest percentage of weight loss. Coming out on top by a narrow margin, Marlette Regional Hospital had an overall weight loss of 488 lbs. or 3.22%. McKenzie Health System had an overall weight loss of 204 lbs. or 3.07%. The winning employee team at Marlette Regional Hospital was “Flab-U-Less” and included staff members Sarah Creason, Brenda Harneck, Andrew Huffman, and Jenna Muxlow. The winning employee team at McKenzie Health System was the “Fabulous Four” and included staff members Heather Chambers, Danielle Dral, Lacey Shea, and Stacie Wheeler.

As a result of two mini-challenges, staff collected and donated supplies for the SAVE Council to support women and children of Eva’s Place. Donations included hats, mittens, scarves, socks, blankets, crayons, coloring books, personal hygiene products, and household items. The donation was presented to Eva’s Place Director Lisa Schmidt by “Commit to be Fit” participants from both organizations.
