By 2035, older Americans are expected to outnumber children for the first time in history, according to U.S. Census projections. To support families of older and aging adults, the McKenzie Health System Foundation Community Relations Committee is hosting “Move ‘Em In? Move ‘Em Out?” on August 29 from 6-7:30 p.m. The free event, focused on navigating care for a loved one, will take place at Stonegate Village Assisted Living, 70 W. Argyle Street in Sandusky.
“It can be incredibly difficult to determine when someone you love needs additional help, support and services,” said Denise Ball, Chairperson of the Caregiver Event subcommittee. “This special event is designed to help adult children and caregivers determine when to take the next step and how to best support the loved ones in their lives.”
Featured speakers at the event include: Heather Merriman, a Registered Nurse and Care Coordinator for McKenzie Health System; Louise Blasius, Director of Human Services for McKenzie Health System; and Debra Schell, Registered Nurse and Patient Care Coordinator for United Hospice. The trio will discuss important issues such as paying attention to warning signs, keeping relationships intact, understanding the options, and hospice care.
Registration is not required. Light refreshments will be served and a door prize drawing will be held. For more information about the event, please contact the McKenzie Health System Foundation Office at 810-648-6127.
