McKenzie Health System is pleased to welcome Vickie Gordon, NP-C, PhD, Director of Telehealth, St. John Providence Health System and Team, as the presenter at the May Lunch and Learn program entitled “Telehealth at McKenzie & Our New Tele Neurology.” The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from Noon to 1 p.m., in the McKenzie Health System Dining Room. Lunch and Learn is a community education series held every third Wednesday of the month. The cost for the workshops is $5, and lunch is included in the price. Pre-registration is required by calling Nina Barnett at 810-648-6127 or emailing email@example.com.
“At the May 16 Lunch and Learn workshop, McKenzie Health System will present on the most recent telehealth opportunities now available in our hospital, including our new Tele Neurology, which is an exciting robotic/computer technology that allows access to neuroscience experts at the St. John Providence Health System’s Neuroscience Center of Excellence”, reports Steve Barnett, CEO of McKenzie Health System. “This technology broadens the choices patients have when seeking specialty care not previously available locally. Until now, travel time and distance may have prevented local patients from seeking the care they need. McKenzie Health System has removed that barrier with this cutting-edge technology. Our patients can now receive the best neurologic care in Michigan without driving to the city.”
Lunch and Learn attendees will learn about the signs and symptoms of a stroke, when to call 911, what happens in the Emergency Department, and how the robot helps in the diagnosis and treatment of strokes. They will be able to see the robot and listen to real life stories of how this new technology has helped stroke patients in Sanilac County.
“As always, this workshop will provide valuable information in a relaxed, personal atmosphere, where questions will be welcomed,” reports Louise Blasius, LMSW, LPC, Director of Human Services at McKenzie Health System. “Because our dining room has limited seating, pre-registrations are required by calling Nina Barnett at 810-648-6127 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. We encourage people to reserve their space as soon as possible, since this class is sure to fill up fast! We hope to see you there!”
