In recognition of August as National Immunization Month, McKenzie Health System is pleased to welcome Dr. Matthew Gormley, McKenzie Health System Pediatrician and Internist to present “Shots to Have” at the August Lunch and Learn workshop, scheduled for Wednesday, August 17, 2016, from Noon to 1 p.m. in the McKenzie Health System Dining Room. Lunch and Learn is a community education series held every third Wednesday of the month. The cost for the workshop is $5, and lunch is included in the price. Pre-registration is required by calling Nina Barnett at 810-648-6127.
“As parents, we are focused on getting the right immunizations for our infants and young children, but how many of us think of shots for adolescents and ourselves?” asks Louise Blasius, LMSW, LPC, Director of Community and Human Services at McKenzie Health System. “At August’s Lunch and Learn workshop Dr. Gormley will be giving attendees valuable information on the kinds of immunizations young children need, such as immunizations for diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus; immunizations adolescents need such as booster shots and vaccines to prevent meningococcal disease and human papillomavirus; and immunizations that adults need, such as flu shots, and immunizations for pneumonia and shingles. Come and learn about steps you can take to help your loved ones avoid serious disease!”
The workshop will be presented in a relaxed, personal atmosphere, and questions will be welcomed. “In addition,” Blasius reports, “attendees will have a delicious meal. What a great way to spend a lunchtime!” Because the McKenzie Health System Dining Room has limited seating, pre-registrations are required by calling Nina Barnett at 810-648-6127.
