The 2017 Healthy Lifestyle Workshop series welcomes Susan Maxbauer, MSU Extension, and Karolyn McEntee, Great Start Collaborative-Sanilac, as featured speakers at the August 2017 Healthy Lifestyle Workshop. They will be presenting a kid friendly program: “Healthy Lunches and Healthy Lunch Boxes for Kids.” The workshop will take place on Monday, August 28, at 5:30 p.m., in the McKenzie Health System Dining Room. Due to the popularity of the workshops and limited space, registrations are required by calling Nina Barnett at 810-648-6127 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
“School is just around the corner, and whether it’s packing lunch boxes for kids during the week or making lunches on the weekend at home, that noonday meal is an important one for kids,” declares Maxbauer. “At the Healthy Lifestyle presentation I’ll be talking about how to choose foods from “Choose My Plate” for a heathy lunch; and how to focus on food safety when packing lunches and why that’s important. Plus, all attendees will learn how to make salad in a jar. We’ll have a lot of fun!”
“We’re happy to offer this child friendly workshop to area residents,” shares Louise Blasius, LMSW, LPC, Director of Human Services at McKenzie Health System, and Healthy Lifestyle Committee Chairperson. “Adults and kids alike will learn valuable information about healthy nutrition, and they’ll enjoy making and eating the salad they create that evening!” For more information on the workshop, contact Louise Blasius at 810-648-6181; to reserve your spot, contact Nina Barnett at 810-648-6127.
