Alzheimer's Disease Monthly Support Group

Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face it alone. McKenzie Health System’s Alzheimer’s Disease Support Group provides caregivers, family members, and friends with a compassionate space to connect, share experiences, and find resources. Led by Alecia Parks, Hospital Social Worker, the group meets on the first Friday of every month from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. in the Back Dining Room at the McKenzie Hospital Campus.

This free support group offers guidance, coping strategies, and community connections to help navigate the challenges of dementia caregiving. Registration is required—call 810-648-0580 to learn more and join a supportive community that understands your journey.

Diabetes Monthly Support Group

Living with diabetes can be challenging, but McKenzie Health System is here to help. Our new monthly Diabetes Support Group offers Sanilac County residents living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, as well as their caregivers and loved ones, a welcoming space to connect, learn, and share experiences. Led by Sandra Fleischman, CPSS, CHW, the group meets on the first Tuesday of every month from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Sandusky First United Methodist Church. Each session provides education, emotional support, practical strategies for managing diabetes, and guidance from experts like Registered Dietitian and Diabetes Quality Coordinator Kris Kreiner, RD. Free of charge, this resource includes refreshments and opportunities for meaningful connection. Workforce Wellness – We still make “house calls”. McKenzie Health System will send our team of experienced nurses and physicians to your facility to provide your employees cholesterol screenings, blood pressure testing, flu clinics, and more.
