Status: Full Time -Salaried/Exempt
Hours: Day Shift. Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands. Low census may be utilized in accordance with hospital policy.
Job summary:
Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer and with limited supervision and broad general direction, the Director of Quality and Risk Management is responsible for the Quality Management Program and Risk Management Services at MHS. This individual leads and is accountable for the quality management and risk management duties, productivity, quality and goal accomplishments of the department. The Director of Quality and Risk demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values and Behavior Standards of McKenzie Health System. The Director of Quality and Risk Management serves as the Hospital Risk Director, overseeing risk management issues related to activities in all areas of the hospital; Serves as the Hospital Quality Director, overseeing Quality Management and Process Improvement activities, and facilitating Medical Staff Peer Review activities throughout the hospital; assists Department Directors in identification of performance improvement opportunities and assists in the implementation of changes required to fulfill quality management program/plan goals and the hospital mission. Serves as the hospital regulatory compliance manager through facilitation and coordination of activities required to ensure compliance with hospital licensing regulations. Responsible for maintaining and coordinating hospital plan that ensures continuous compliance with hospital regulations.
Qualifications/Position Requirements:
- Current Michigan Board of Nursing license as a Registered Nurse with required renewals.
- Certification/degree in healthcare related field preferred.
- Two (2) years previous experience in Quality Management and Risk Management, preferred.
- Knowledge of current healthcare trends and principles of management, required.
- Knowledge of current quality management, risk management and current federal and state regulations related to quality management programs, preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in the field of clinical nursing or equivalent, preferred.
- Previous management/leadership experience in a hospital setting, or equivalent, which required utilization of clinical and problem solving skills and techniques, preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with electronic medical record software in hospital setting, preferred.
- BLS-Healthcare Provider required within 6 months of hire, if do not hold current card.
- Knowledge of Quality Management principles for Peer Review and Process Improvement program.
- Knowledge of Risk Management principles.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current trends and changes in health care, quality management principles and risk management principles.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patients, families, providers and all other support hospital & external personnel
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills in working with Medical Staff, Multidisciplinary Teams and Outside Committees.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to interact positively with staff to motivate and resolve problems effectively.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Self directed.
- Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining a hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees.
