Title: Director of Clinical Support Services

Department: Administration

Status: Full Time – 40 Hours per week

Hours: Primarily Day Shift. Hours may be adjusted in response to workload demands. Low census may be utilized in accordance with hospital policy.

Job summary:

The Director of Clinical Support Services provides nursing education in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, coordinates the employee health program in coordination with Human Resources, maintains the integrity of our infection prevention standards and program, is responsible for applicable job tasks and oversight of progress, productivity and oversight of Environmental Services Manager/Department and Nutritional Services Departments which include such duties as; decision making, problem solving, planning, delegating, identification of department needs and implementation of change to meet department needs, hiring and disciplining of department staff, employee performance management, ensuring conformance to hospital policies and regulatory agency standards.

Qualifications/Position Requirements:

    1. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, or comparable equivalent, required.
    2. Current licensure by Michigan Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, required.
    3. Previous management experience, preferred.
    4. Knowledge of current health trends, nursing trends, employee health trends, infection prevention trends and the techniques and principals, required.
    5. Progressive experience in applicable field(s) of at least five years duration, preferred.
    6. Current BLS certification required within three months of hire.
    7. Three years of clinical experience and demonstrated competence in an acute care Medical Surgical area.
    8. Studies/Course work/certification in infection prevention, preferred.
    9. Working knowledge of epidemiology infectious diseases and aseptic technique including standard precautions.
    10. Demonstrates ability to establish effective working relationships and effective communication with peers, patient, families, providers and all other hospital support personnel.
    11. Ability to promote and adapt to change in order to keep current with health care trends.
    12. Effective time management and organization skills.
    13. Demonstrates the ability to function in a leadership position by serving as a resource person, assuming leadership role in emergency/crisis situation and delegating specific tasks to appropriately trained personnel.
    14. Demonstrates leadership, administrative and technical skills essential to job.
    15. Demonstrates ability to handle multiple tasks in a stressful situation while maintaining composure and excellence in the delivery of services.
    16. Supports and contributes to the total hospital system by maintaining a hospital-wide perspective and serving on department/hospital committees.
    17. Maintains a positive perspective/attitude.
