“I’m looking forward to the Healthy Lifestyle Workshop,” shares Chef Puzan.  “I find the garden to be the brightest and most flavorful part of summer, especially during the heat.  With that said, I will be showing the workshop attendees how to create a duo of palate awakening dishes that families can share.”  That duo consists of Grilled Mango Gazpacho Shooters and Grilled Peach & Chicken Salad with Blueberry Vinaigrette Cups.

“Awaken your taste buds with the delightfully delicious but healthy ‘soup’ called Grilled Mango Gazpacho Shooters,” invites Chef Puzan.  “The dish begins with ripe sweet mangos grilled to allow the natural sugars to caramelize and tossed with fresh garden crisp cucumbers, diced onion, and jalapeno peppers. Then the mangoes are bathed in fresh squeezed orange juice and lime juice for an added tang, touched with olive oil to smooth out and balance the dish, and finished with fresh chopped basil.”

“Grilled Peach & Chicken Salad with Blueberry Vinaigrette Cups are chicken breasts seasoned with a sweet peach and olive oil combination and grilled to perfection, then tossed with blueberry vinaigrette and served on your choice of crunchy garden greens,” explains Puzan.  “This dish gives us a chance to stay outside picking the brightest and freshest aromatic produce blend that includes a variety of lettuce greens and sweet fruits.”

“Rain or shine, this FREE workshop promises to be both fun and informative for both adults and children! Families should dress weather appropriate for outdoor grilling. In case of rain, this event will move across McKenzie’s parking lot to the Sanilac Medical Care Facility’s roofed patio. Not only will attendees go home with new recipes, all participants will have a chance to win a door prize!” reports Louise Blasius, Chairperson of the Healthy Lifestyle Project and McKenzie Health System Social Worker. “This is one of a series of 11 free workshops that we are holding in 2015, in partnership with MSU Extension and the Sanilac County Health Department.  Topics throughout the year cover a variety of healthy living topics.”
